Photographer Allan Tannenbaum, whose intimate portraits he took of the Beatle's John Lennon and of his wife Yoko Ono, has a new book called Yoko and John: A New York Love Story, a sort of peephole into the couple's final days together. These photos were taken of them 27 years ago at a studio in SoHo, where Tannenbaum was an employee of the SoHo Weekly News. Lennon and Ono appeared comfortable being nude in front of a camera. Nudity was just another form of expression for them, says Tannenbaum. They seemed very at ease, and it was more of a tenderness that was being shown than a highly charged erotic situation.

John Lennon, the leader and member of the Beatles with his wife Yoko Ono, changed from street clothes to colorful kimonos upon their arrival in SoHo , where they would be filmed in a studio. Eventually, these kimonos were removed as well, hopping naked onto a bed and gliding through imitation lovemaking positions.

Tannenbaum recalls how Yoko Ono advised him on the intimate photos that he took of her and her husband," that these are your photos but just be careful how you use them ". At the time of their conversation, neither had any idea that 10 days later that the former Beatle would be dead.
