Soon the anniversary of John Lennon's murder will be upon us. Hard to believe that he has been gone for 27 years and that a man who lived such a peaceful life had to go in such a violent way. John Lennon was the man who told us to " give peace a chance" and imagined "all the people living life in peace". A founding member of the rock band The Beatles, John became the outspoken member of the group , speaking out on America's involvement in the Viet Nam war and causing controversy with remarks such as  " the Beatles are more popular than Jesus". But it wasn't until the break up of the band that John Lennon seemed to become the icon for peace and love that he still stands for today. John became a social activist, giving passionate speeches that broadened the nature of public discourse for artists. A self proclaimed househusband, John was content to stay at home with his wife and watch his son grow up, at the same time writing and recording some rather zen like songs. John Lennon viewed his life as an artist in which every action of his somehow reflected a potential impact on the world as a whole. I think that if John Lennon were alive today, he would be proud of the impact that he has made on the world  with his peaceful loving music and his love everyone attitude. Who can listen to "Imagine", now the song that world wide represents peace, and not feel a tear come to the eye?  I for one feel that John Lennon left the world a much better place for having been here.
