Their star career as a group was surprisingly short by modern standards compared to groups like the Who or the Rolling Stones that are still playing together more than 30 years after coming together and despite the deaths or retirement of many original members. Only two of the original Beatles are still alive at this point, and only one of them, Paul McCartney, is really active, but the culture and musical influence of Beatles music and the classic Beatles lyric is vast indeed. One of the reasons that the Beatles continue to be relevant is the amazing quality of the Beatles music. Everyone from Oasis to Elvis has covered at least one Beatles tune, and more cover versions of Beatles music come out every year. There was even a recent movie musical, Across the Universe, that was written around a whole raft of Beatles tunes, and it did pretty well with contemporary audiences. Even young head-bangers and Emo kids can find something to relate to in their music because the tunes they composed and the lyrics they wrote are all relevant to somebody, somewhere.
